16:45Hedera x Claude Code AI Skills for Hackathon Builders I Logan Nguyen
ETHGlobalAug 9, 2026
In this workshop at ETHGlobal New York 2026, Logan Nguyen, an engineer at Hashgraph, shows hackathon builders how to move faster on Hedera using its open source collection of AI plugins and skills. He opens with a recap of Hedera for the mixed audience: it is a fully EVM-compatible L1, so anything built on Ethereum (MetaMask, Solidity smart contracts, Foundry, ethers.js) migrates and works out of the box, plus native protocol services like the Hedera Token Service (ERC-20 and ERC-721 style tokens with built-in KYC, freeze, pause, and royalty fees, no separate Solidity contract needed), the Hedera Consensus Service for messaging and topic subscription, a schedule service for on-chain automation, smart contract service, and more. He notes Hedera processes over 10,000 transactions per second with roughly 3-second finality, low fixed and predictable fees (a fraction of a cent), and a carbon-negative network. Logan then introduces Hedera Skills, the open source collection of plugins and skills built by Hedera's DevRel team, covering six capabilities: the hackathon helper, an agent kit plugin (for building AI agents that interact with the network via natural language using the Hedera Agent Toolkit), dev intelligence for scaffolding and session tracking, native services JavaScript (interacting with native services via the SDK without Solidity), system contracts (the Solidity counterpart for the same services), and the recently added Hedera CLI reference. He goes deep on the hackathon helper's two skills: hackathon PRD, run before writing any code, which teaches Claude, Cursor, or Codex to read Hedera's criteria, ask questions, narrow scope to a demoable MVP, and produce a buildable product requirements document, and validate submission, run before submitting, which does a mock judging pass against Hedera's seven criteria to catch bugs. He live-demos installing the hackathon helper in Claude with three commands and generating a PRD, then introduces the Hedera docs MCP server, which solves AI knowledge cutoff by giving agents a search tool over always-up-to-date documentation, SDK references, and code examples via one command to a remote hosted server. He closes with the four bounty tracks (AI agent, agentic payments, tokenization with no Solidity, and autonomous on-chain automation) and $15,000 in prizes. 00:00 Introduction 00:11 Meet Logan and the Goal of the Workshop 00:32 The Idea: Open Source Plugins and Skills 01:04 A Quick Recap on What Hedera Is 01:30 Why Your EVM Stack Works Out of the Box 01:44 Native Services: The Hedera Token Service 02:27 The Consensus, Schedule, and Smart Contract Services 02:59 Throughput, Finality, and Low Fees 03:35 Why Hedera Is a Carbon-Negative Network 04:24 36 Hours and $15,000 in Prizes 04:51 Introducing Hedera Skills 05:37 The Six Capabilities in the Repo 06:02 The Agent Kit and Dev Intelligence Plugins 06:36 Native Services JavaScript vs System Contracts 07:12 The Recently Added Hedera CLI 07:44 Going Deeper: The Hackathon PRD Skill 08:21 How the PRD Skill Narrows Your Scope 09:00 The Validate Submission Skill 09:36 A Mock Judging Pass Before You Submit 09:52 Live Demo: Installing the Hackathon Helper 10:53 Generating a PRD From an Idea 11:21 How the Skill Asks Questions to Brainstorm 12:47 Claude Generates the PRD 13:13 Introducing the Hedera Docs MCP Server 13:39 Solving the AI Knowledge Cutoff Problem 14:28 One Command to Add the Server 14:58 Using the Server With Natural Language 15:42 Recapping the Two Tools 16:03 The Four Bounty Tracks and Prizes 16:31 Closing _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ *ETHGlobal New York 2026* This workshop is specifically for ETHGlobal New York 2026, a 3-day hackathon held June 12-14 at the Metropolitan Pavilion, bringing together the most skilled web3 developers, designers and product builders from all around the globe for a weekend-long adventure to advance the Ethereum ecosystem! 24:34Steven Goldfeder
Fireside Chat with Steven Goldfeder (Offchain) and Amanda Cassatt (Serotonin) at ETHConf
ETHGlobalJul 9, 2026
In this fireside chat, Amanda Cassatt from Serotonin sits down with Steven Goldfeder, co-founder of Offchain Labs, to discuss Arbitrum's origins, the evolving role of L2s, and how institutions are reshaping the Ethereum ecosystem. Steven traces Arbitrum back to a fall 2014 Princeton class project led by his co-founder Ed, nearly a year before Ethereum went live, when it was a purely academic pursuit around scaling the theorized concept of smart contracts. Years later, when platforms hit real scaling issues, he and co-founders Ed and Harry took the vision out of the ivory tower. On Vitalik's comment that the rollup centric roadmap no longer makes sense and that an L2 which doesn't fully decentralize is just a vampiric L1 with a bridge, Steven welcomes Ethereum ending its neutral stance toward chains that latched onto the brand without being secured by it, noting Arbitrum was built from day one with proofs connecting it to Ethereum. Steven identifies two major shifts. First, Arbitrum built its own identity, evolving from Ethereum users wanting a cheaper path to majority Arbitrum first users drawn by deep liquidity, apps like GMX, and 250 millisecond block times, making it a top five blockchain by economic activity. Second, L2s now have a purpose independent from scaling: institutions want their own chains for branding, compliance, and privacy, choosing between their own L1 (Stripe's Tempo, Circle's Arc) or an Ethereum L2 (Robin Hood on Arbitrum, Coinbase's Base). He argues Ethereum is the only L1 that can cater to them through the L2 model. He uses Robin Hood's landlord versus tenant framing, explains why fading into invisible infrastructure is best for global adoption (the cat video on AWS versus GCP analogy), and notes the Arbitrum DAO still collects 10% of Robin Hood chain revenue. He covers solving fragmentation through smart routing addresses and ZeroDev chain abstraction, his view that AI agents are closer to a Sybil attack than a solution, his bullishness on non financial use cases like prediction markets and USDA's AI hardware lending, and how Offchain connects institutions to Ethereum while the Foundation stays focused on CROPS. 00:00 Introduction 00:11 From Aspiring Professor to Founding Arbitrum 01:01 The Fall 2014 Princeton Class Project 01:43 Taking Arbitrum Out of the Ivory Tower 02:12 Is Vitalik Right About the Rollup Centric Roadmap 02:41 Why Ethereum Ended Its Neutral Brand Stance 03:09 How Arbitrum Was Built Connected to Ethereum 03:30 Two Core Things That Have Changed 03:48 From Ethereum First to Arbitrum First Users 04:23 Arbitrum as a Top Five Blockchain 04:44 Why L2s Have a Purpose Independent of Scaling 05:26 Institutions Choosing L1 vs L2 05:54 Why Ethereum Is the Only L1 That Can Fight 06:30 Offchain's Role in Scaling the Layer 1 07:11 Is the Case for L2s Now Institutional Onboarding 07:45 Why Institutions Want Their Own Branded Chains 08:15 Owning the Chain to Collect Fee Revenue 08:40 The Landlord vs Tenant Strip Mall Analogy 09:29 What Is Arbitrum in the Landlord Metaphor 10:06 The Risks and Rewards of Invisible Infrastructure 10:46 Fueling Robin Hood's International Expansion 11:28 The Cat Video on AWS Analogy 11:48 Why the DAO Still Benefits in Dollars and Cents 12:13 Fragmentation Across L2s and L3s 12:45 Smart Routing Addresses and Chain Abstraction 13:52 Why Taking a Step Back Enables Going Forward 14:39 Will AI Agents Solve Fragmentation 15:32 Why Agents Add Usage Rather Than Solve It 16:03 Smart Wallets With Policies for Agents 16:48 Will Users Know They're Using Arbitrum in 10 Years 17:11 Why Escape Hatches Matter Even If Unused 18:11 Blockchain Gaming as an Example 18:58 Getting the Benefits Without Engaging the Details 19:17 Why the Right to Self Sovereignty Always Matters 20:01 Bullish on Non Financial Use Cases 20:34 Why Arbitrum Has Been Finance Focused From the Start 21:08 Prediction Markets and USDA AI Hardware Lending 21:49 What the Programmable Economy Really Means 22:16 How Arbitrum's Mission Fits Ethereum's Values 22:44 Believing in CROPS and Decentralization 23:30 Offchain as the Business Conduit for Institutions 24:06 A Harmonious Ecosystem With the Ethereum Foundation 24:27 Closing _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ *ETHConf 2026* ETHConf is a 3 day event for founders, industry leaders, and builders who are excited about the possibilities of building on top of Ethereum. 21:16Flare Workshop - Introduction to TEEs on Flare I Nik Erzetic
ETHGlobalMay 9, 2026
In this workshop, Nik Erzetic, a developer at Flare Network, introduces Flare Smart Accounts and Flare Confidential Compute, two key pieces of Flare's infrastructure. Flare Smart Accounts use account abstraction to allow XRPL users to perform actions on the Flare blockchain without holding any Flare tokens, by bridging encoded instructions from XRPL payment transactions to personal account smart contracts on Flare. The session focuses primarily on Flare Confidential Compute, which leverages Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs) to extend blockchain security to handle private data and computationally heavy tasks. Nik walks through the architecture of TEE extensions on Flare, explaining how developers only need to modify two components — the instruction sender smart contract and the TEE extension code itself. He demos the FC Sign repository as a practical example, covering op types, op commands, and how the TEE securely handles private keys and transaction signing. The workshop concludes with notes on local development tooling for the hackathon and a brief Q&A. 00:00 Introduction 00:25 What Are Flare Smart Accounts 04:02 Account Abstraction and XRPL Integration 06:06 Encoding Custom Instructions 07:00 What Are Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs) 08:18 Flare Confidential Compute Architecture 09:38 Developer Workflow: Smart Contract and TEE Extension 10:36 TEE Proxy and Firewall Security Model 11:06 FC Sign Repository Walkthrough 12:48 Instruction Sender Smart Contract 14:04 Op Types, Op Commands, and Message Encoding 15:52 Go TEE Extension: Handlers and Config 17:32 Local Development Setup for the Hackathon 18:35 AI Skills for Building TEE Extensions 19:07 Q&A _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ *ETHGlobal Cannes 2026* This workshop is specifically for ETHGlobal Cannes 2026, a 3-day hackathon held April 3-5 at the Palace of Festivals and Congresses of Cannes, bringing together the most skilled web3 developers, designers and product builders from all around the globe for a weekend-long adventure to advance the Ethereum ecosystem! 19:50Hedera Workshop: EVM, SDKs and AI Agents I Nadine Loepfe
ETHGlobalNov 9, 2025
Nadine gives a fast, practical tour of Hedera and how to get building quickly—even if you’ve never touched the stack. Hedera is a Layer-1, EVM-compatible network (nearly equivalent) with native SDKs in JavaScript, Python, Java, .NET, Rust, etc., so you can interact with the ledger like a normal full-stack app or deploy Solidity contracts. She highlights production traits: ~10,000 TPS, very low, predictable fees (priced in USD cents—e.g., ~1¢ per token transfer, ~0.08¢ per HCS message), strong security (hashgraph consensus) and an independent governance council (e.g., Google, IBM). It’s also positioned as one of the greenest networks. For onboarding, the Hedera Portal (portal.hedera.com) gives you instant Testnet credentials (account ID, EVM address, private keys) plus a daily faucet. The Dev Playground runs entirely in-browser—no installs needed—so you can create tokens/NFTs, burn/mint, schedule transactions, try KYC flows, and interact with contracts. Every example shows live results and links out to HashScan (Hedera’s Etherscan) to inspect transactions and contracts. There’s an embedded AI assistant and a separate HiveMind GPT trained on Hedera docs, useful to avoid hallucinations while prototyping. For smart contracts, the Contract Builder (Remix-like) scaffolds ERC-20/721, toggles features (mintable/burnable/ownable), compiles, deploys, and verifies on HashScan—all in the browser. 00:36 What Hedera is (L1, EVM-compatible) & why build here 01:53 Enterprise-readiness: scalability, green profile, predictable USD-denominated fees 04:28 Portal walkthrough: create account, faucet, keys 05:56 Dev Playground: run transactions & inspect on HashScan 08:17 HiveMind GPT (doc-grounded assistant) & querying Mirror Nodes 09:52 Docs: native vs EVM developer paths 10:14 Contract Builder: scaffold ERC-20/721, compile, verify, deploy, call 12:49 Interacting with deployed contracts via UI 13:27 Hedera Agent Kit: create project, modes (autonomous vs human-in-loop) 15:45 Configure Operator ID/key, model; run template; local chat agent UI 18:53 More tutorials (verification, HBAR in Solidity, etc.) & support at the booth _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 🇮🇳 *ETHGlobal New Delhi* This workshop is specifically for ETHGlobal New Delhi, a 3-day hackathon held September 19-21 at the India International Convention & Expo Centre, bringing together the most skilled web3 developers, designers and product builders from all around the globe for a weekend-long adventure to advance the Ethereum ecosystem! 17:15The Future of Web3 Is Not Blockchain - Grigore Rosu
ETHGlobalOct 9, 2025
Grigore Rosu, co-founder of Pi Squared, challenges the prevailing belief that Web3 must rely on blockchains. He highlights blockchain limitations, especially total ordering, which slows down scalability and flexibility for complex decentralized applications. Rosu introduces alternative protocols like FastPay and his team's new FastSet protocol, which enable massively parallel, verifiable, and decentralized settlement of claims—such as payments, computations, and asset transfers—without blocks or total ordering. This approach allows for instant, programmable, trustless coordination and execution across chains and agents, supporting AI-native infrastructure and billions of concurrent operations. Pi Squared’s infrastructure enables claims with proofs to be validated and settled independently, unlocking horizontal scalability and interoperability. Rosu announces the launch of their devnet and plans for a mainnet and a flagship wallet product, leveraging cross-chain liquidity via Wormhole, aiming to redefine Web3 infrastructure beyond blockchain constraints. 00:00 Introduction 00:38 Grigore Rosu Background 01:18 Questioning Blockchain Necessity in Web3 02:35 The Problem with Total Ordering 03:33 Blockchain Limitations for Web3 Applications 04:01 Introduction to FastPay Protocol 04:38 Generalizing FastPay Beyond Payments 05:09 Verifiability vs. Ordering 05:58 Innovations and Modularity in Blockchain 07:08 The Future Role of Blockchains 07:53 Applications Not Requiring Total Order 08:28 Web3 at an Inflection Point 09:15 Pi Squared’s Vision for Web3 Infrastructure 09:42 Unlocking Parallel Trustless Coordination 10:22 Programmable, Decentralized Claims 10:57 AI-Native, Massively Parallel Infrastructure 11:46 Introducing the FastSet Protocol 12:13 How FastSet Works: Claims and Proofs 13:39 Decentralized Validation and Settlement 14:53 Handling Causal Dependencies 15:43 Parallel, Blockless, Chainless Settlement 16:10 Devnet Launch and Mainnet Roadmap 16:46 Flagship Wallet and Cross-Chain Liquidity 17:10 Conclusion _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 🇫🇷 *Pragma Cannes* Pragma Cannes 2025 was held on July 3rd at the Carlton Cannes in Cannes, France and was an in-person summit for builders and leaders in the web3 ecosystem. Flare Workshop Bring Any Web2 Data On Chain I Victor Munoz
ETHGlobalOct 9, 2025
Victor Munoz, Developer Evangelist at Flare, presents a workshop on how to bring Web2 data on-chain using the Flare blockchain. Flare is an EVM-compatible L1 blockchain with native, enshrined oracles, providing secure, decentralized access to external data. Key protocols include FTSO (Flare Time Series Oracle) for price feeds, FDC (Flare Data Connector) for verifying and attesting Web2 and cross-chain data, and FAssets for trustless asset representation from non-smart contract chains like Bitcoin and XRP. The workshop demonstrates fetching data from a Web2 API (Star Wars API), processing it with jq filters, verifying it via the FDC, and storing enhanced, verified data on-chain. Use cases include insurance automation, carbon credits, and on-chain reputation systems. Victor guides developers through Flare’s documentation, starter kits (Hardhat, Foundry), and a live coding example, emphasizing the importance of defining data structures and on-chain logic before implementation. 00:00 Introduction 00:40 Workshop Overview & Flare’s Uniqueness 02:07 Flare as an EVM L1 & Native Oracles 03:02 Flare Protocols: FTSO, FDC, FAssets 05:05 Use Cases: Insurance, Carbon Credits, Reputation 08:57 Flare Data Connector Flow Overview 09:42 Live Demo: Fetching & Verifying Web2 Data 11:09 Developer Resources & Starter Kits 12:39 Flare Developer Hub Walkthrough 14:00 Setting Up the Web2JSON Example 15:30 Running the Demo & Process Explanation 17:17 Demo Output & On-Chain Data Enhancement 18:44 Step-by-Step Log Analysis 21:03 Submitting Requests & Validator Consensus 22:08 Deploying Smart Contracts & On-Chain Logic 23:41 Decoding Proofs & Final Steps 24:30 Q&A and Wrap-up _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 🇺🇸 *ETHGlobal New York* This workshop is specifically for ETHGlobal New York, a 3-day hackathon held August 15-17, bringing together the most skilled web3 developers, designers and product builders from all around the globe for a weekend-long adventure to advance the Ethereum ecosystem! Talk | Don’t Overload the Proposer (Vitalik)
ZuBerlinJun 13, 2024
Clip The video presents an in-depth discussion about the structure and future architecture of Ethereum, focusing on the roles and divisions between various actors involved in the network's consensus mechanism. It explores the categorization of builders, who create blocks and choose their contents, and attesters, who vote on blocks to ensure they are accepted and finalized. The speaker examines historical consensus models and how they've evolved due to concerns around Miner Extractable Value (MEV) issues. The talk delves into different separation models like Proposer Builder Separation (PBS) and Attester Proposer Separation (APS), explaining their implications for protocol openness, censorship resistance, and economies of scale. It also addresses the benefits of integrating certain roles to strengthen network guarantees against centralization risks. Moreover, the speaker discusses potential risks of overloading stakers with additional functionalities that could incentivize them to fork the chain or lead to centralization through outsourcing yield gathering. The concept of consensus proposers is also examined, emphasizing the importance of their decentralization. Finally, the video touches on pre-confirmations as a higher-level feature that doesn't benefit from in-protocol censorship resistance but is desired for its low latency. The speaker expresses hope for a balance where users can enjoy fast transaction confirmations while protecting critical aspects of Ethereum
Discussion 4: Standards for user to preconfer with Ellie
ZuBerlinJun 12, 2024
Clip The video discusses the minimal requirements for launching a mainnet with a focus on pre-confirmation transactions and how wallets interact with the network. The key points include: 1. Determining the essential data users need to sign for transactions. 2. How wallets can identify the next network leader and read from the delegation contract, potentially using a relay service. 3. Two proposed methods (straw man proposals) for handling pre-confirmations: - Straw man 1: Users sign two transactions, one regular and one with a tip and metadata. This is simple but vulnerable to unbundling by gateways. - Straw man 2: Users sign a single transaction that includes the tip, metadata, and the actual transaction, making unbundling difficult but still allowing potential front-running by gateways. The discussion also touches on: - The importance of creating a minimum viable product and iterating over time. - Trust in gateways during initial launch versus long-term solutions. - Potential metadata to include in user signatures, such as the proposer's public key and block deadline. - Addressing fair exchange problems where users may not receive pre-confirmation acknowledgments. - Game theoretical dynamics for ensuring fair exchanges without cryptographic guarantees. - The possibility of using new transaction types or smart contracts to express

Fireside Chat with Ethereum's Founder: Joe Lubin | ETHDenver 2023
Ethereum DenverOct 9, 2023
Join us for an insightful fireside chat with Joe Lubin, the visionary founder of Ethereum. In this engaging conversation, we delve into the fascinating world of cryptocurrency and explore the latest advancements in the crypto space. One key highlight is the consensus L2, a groundbreaking development that promises to revolutionize the industry. As we navigate through this discussion, you'll gain valuable insights into Denveropolis' thriving crypto scene and discover why it's becoming a hub for innovation. Stay tuned for more exciting updates on what lies ahead! #Cryptocurrency #innovation #buidl TLDR: The key idea of the video is that Ethereum is evolving into a modular protocol with separate layers, focusing on usability, scalability, and decentralization, which has the potential to revolutionize the cryptocurrency ecosystem and unlock creative potential. 00:00 🔥 Joe Lubin was a key supporter of the ETH Denver project and was the first sponsor to help build it in 2017. 01:36 🔥 Ethereum is evolving into a modular protocol with separate layers, including Layer Two Roll-Ups, which will enhance usability and scalability, increase transaction speed, reduce costs, and enable more use cases like games. 05:37 🔒 Layer Two protocols in Ethereum will be secure, but centralization and vulnerabilities need to be addressed by gradually decentralizing functionality, and the main net launch will likely follow the testing network. 08:12 💥 The FTX Fallout was risky and harmful for the crypto ecosystem, while the growth of C5 brought benefits and drawbacks, and the presence of money-focused individuals hindered the smooth development of the cryptocurrency ecosystem, but with improved regulation, exponential growth is possible. 13:17 🔥 Vertical and horizontal organization will shape the future economy, as Ethereum and its projects grow and experiment; decentralized finance will prevail over traditional finance, despite regulators' concerns, and laws will evolve to focus on regulating smart contract usage rather than the technology itself. 18:28 🔥 Regulators cracking down on fraudulent projects in crypto, pushing for decentralization; Ethereum focuses on decentralization for usability and scalability, while providing assistance for people to earn yield in the thriving blockchain ecosystem. 23:29 🔥 Despite occasional speculation, the Ethereum community is thriving with innovation and involvement, while regulators aim to slow down innovation in America to catch up, offering hope for reduced uncertainty in regulation and the end of traditional monetary systems. 26:21 🔥 The price of Ethereum token reached a stable base price of around $1200 due to innovation, solid teams, and the removal and burning of ether, with the potential for further price increase this year as more transactions lead to more ether being burned. Joe Lubin is excited about the ordinals project on Bitcoin, which could lift the entire Ethereum ecosystem and unlock Bitcoin's creative potential.
