Bridging TradFi and DeFi: Best Practices for RWA Tokenisation on Ethereum | ETHSofia 2026

ETHSofiaOct 6, 2026

With Candice Teo (Espoir Communications, moderator), Alvaro Garrido Mesa (LegalNode) and Krzysztof Paruch (Token Engineering Labs). What does the law require, and what does the system design require, before institutions put real-world assets on Ethereum at scale? Moderator Candice Teo opens with the state of the market, including Ethereum's roughly $17 billion in tokenised RWAs, then works through failure points with lawyer Alvaro Garrido Mesa and token engineer Krzysztof Paruch. They cover redemption mismatches when a token trades 24/7 but its underlying asset does not, why SPVs sit behind most tokenisation projects, why the legal contract should override the code when the two disagree, and how ERC-3643 handles investor identity, forced transfers and asset recovery without solving liability. In closing, Paruch names explicit governance and accountability as his non-negotiable and Garrido Mesa names jurisdiction, while stablecoins, commodities such as gold and bonds are called production ready. A Short Guide to Technical Storytelling I Debbie Soon

ETHGlobalMay 9, 2026

In this talk, Debbie Soon, head of marketing at Privy, delivers a masterclass on technical storytelling — the skill of bridging the gap between how a product works and what it enables. She argues that complexity isn't the problem; the problem is when people don't understand what your product means for them. Using Privy's wallet infrastructure and policy engine as examples, she shows how the same product gets explained differently across five audience surfaces: socials (narrative layer), website (evaluation layer), docs (implementation layer), and trust center (risk/assurance layer). Debbie walks through two concrete translations: converting "hardware-isolated TEEs and key sharding" into "wallets that are secure by design but flexible in practice," and converting "boolean conditions with allow/deny actions" into "programmable behavior where money movement becomes safe, flexible, and predictable by design." She frames this as turning boolean logic into business logic. She closes with three daily principles for better storytelling: start with what changes (not what you built), translate systems into capabilities, and give people language they can repeat — because to make your product scale, you first have to be understood. 00:00 Introduction 00:42 What Is Privy and Why Storytelling Matters 02:30 The Problem: Complexity Isn't Bad, Misunderstanding Is 03:33 What Is Technical Storytelling 04:32 Bridging How It Works and What It Enables 05:22 Two Examples: Wallet Architecture and Policy Engine 06:15 Five Audience Surfaces: Socials, Website, Docs, Trust Center 07:30 Mapping Surfaces to Audiences 08:37 Example 1: Wallet Architecture — TEEs and Key Sharding 09:52 Translating Wallet Tech into "Secure by Design, Flexible in Practice" 11:18 Example 2: Policy Engine — Rules, Conditions, Actions 12:32 Translating Boolean Logic into Business Logic 13:43 Technical Storytelling Is Not Just for Marketers 14:28 Making Ideas Travel from Brain to Market 15:02 Three Principles: What Changes, Capabilities, Repeatable Language 16:41 To Scale, You First Have to Be Understood 17:20 Closing _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 🇫🇷 *Pragma Cannes 2026* Pragma Cannes 2026 was held on April 2nd at the JW Marriott Hotel in Cannes, France and was an in-person summit for builders and leaders in the web3 ecosystem. ETHBerlinSep 5, 2024

ETHBerlin04 May 24-26, 2024, CIC Innovation Campus Keynote: Matthew Hodgson - The Challenge of Decentralised Communication In this talk, Matthew explains the challenges they have hit in building Matrix to compete with the mainstream alternatives, how they are solving them, why it's taken so long, and why it's more important than ever to keep the ideal of decentralised communication alive. ETHBerlin04 - https://ethberlin.org A Department of Decentralization event - https://dod.ngo The video features a speaker discussing the importance of decentralized communication and the challenges faced in developing a decentralized communication protocol, using their experience with Matrix as an example. The speaker highlights issues with centralized platforms like Discord and Slack, which range from privacy concerns to outright bans in certain countries. They advocate for decentralization as a more resilient and lasting solution. Matrix is described as an open-source project that offers secure, decentralized real-time communications for various applications such as chat, VoIP, VR/AR integration, and IoT data exchange. The speaker provides statistics to establish the credibility of Matrix, mentioning its growth to around 4.5 million monthly active users. The ecosystem of Matrix includes specifications, server implementations by both the Matrix Foundation and third parties, client SDKs across multiple programming languages, and a wide array of clients for different platforms and use cases. Despite being designed for democratized communication, it is noted that governments are major users of the platform. The challenges of decentralization are emphasized with focus being the main issue identified by the speaker. They reflect on how decentralization has made development significantly more complex compared to their previous centralized projects. The talk also touches upon governance within the Matrix community, developer experience considerations, and the decision-making process regarding what features to prioritize within the protocol. ETHBerlin04 Workshop: Sergei Tikhomirov - Secure communications with Waku

ETHBerlinSep 4, 2024

ETHBerlin04 May 24-26, 2024, CIC Innovation Campus Technical Workshop: Sergei Tikhomirov - Secure communications with Waku ETHBerlin04 - https://ethberlin.org A Department of Decentralization event - https://dod.ngo The video features Sergei, a protocol researcher at Vaku, who will discuss the Vaku platform, its relevance for hackathon projects, and demonstrate how to run a node. He begins by contrasting the lack of privacy in Web2 and Web3 communications, emphasizing the need for a secure communication layer in Web3. Sergei explains that Vaku is not a blockchain or messenger but is a privacy-focused messaging protocol for Web3 apps. He details that Vaku can be used for various applications beyond messengers, such as private voting systems, off-chain state machines, multi-signature wallet coordination, and layer 2 roll-up coordination. The talk aims to provide motivation to explore Vaku's documentation and use it in hackathon projects. Additionally, Sergei introduces the design principles of Vaku: being generalized for any data exchange, permissionless participation, and allowing anyone to join and relay messages within its network.

Conflux - Web3 UX UnconferenceNov 16, 2023

No description The video features an opening speech from a conference in Istanbul addressing the UX community. Despite regional challenges and the absence of some colleagues, the speaker appreciates attendees' presence at DevConnect and encourages them to enjoy the additional activities available, including Turkish ice cream and coffee. The speech explains that the UXLand conference is an "un-conference," where participants create the event by discussing topics of interest to them. The conference has no sponsors or volunteers but is supported by the Ethereum Foundation and DevConnect. The speaker emphasizes that the success of the event depends on attendee participation and stresses that it's a collaborative environment rather than a platform for promoting individual projects. Attendees represent various professional backgrounds, with product development, engineering, and design being prominent. Key topics for discussion include account extraction, user onboarding, Web3 design principles, and general adoption within the ecosystem. Working groups will form to delve deeper into these areas in a collaborative setting with provided tools like FigJam for documentation. The speaker also mentions a goal of creating memorable ways (memes) to communicate complex UX concepts outside of the conference to foster broader understanding and excitement. An example given is "4337," which has gained attention despite many not fully understanding it. The video outlines rules for speakers, including strict time limits,

Viktor Tron: Web3 Communications | Swarm Orange Summit Madrid 2019

SwarmOct 9, 2019

Viktor Tron: Web3 Communications | Swarm Orange Summit Madrid 2019 In this talk, we deconstruct digital communication modalities into functional components and show how these components can be implemented using core swarm features such as feeds, access control and PSS. We argue that as a consequence swarm can provide censorship-resistant, trustless and economically sustainable solutions for communications with strong privacy (eg. chat, file transfer, email, forums, blogs and comments). About Viktor Viktor Tron is team lead for the swarm project and has worked for the Ethereum Foundation since the start. Committed to the ideal of a free voluntary society, he has a keen interest in decentralisation, cryptography, networking, data structures and algorithms and believe in technology and innovation as the conduit for peaceful social change. A long-time contributor to the open source community he advocates open source, open data and open collaboration models, currently working on web3.
