12:37What 500,000 Settled Agent Payments Taught Us | Marcelo Kunze at Pragma Lisbon 2026
ETHGlobalSep 9, 2026
Marcelo Kunze, Co-founder of Frames, shares what the team learned from settling roughly 500,000 payments initiated by AI agents. He traces the product from an ETHGlobal finalist project through accelerators and a rebrand, describing an early prompt-based system that hid wallets, passphrases, and payment mechanics from users. Demand centered on paid data and API tools, such as social monitoring, lead enrichment, and brand intelligence, but rapid growth exposed a core problem: agents could discover many endpoints without knowing which tools were reliable or appropriate for a specific task. Kunze uses the Michelin Guide as an analogy for products that begin by helping a new market grow and later become valuable infrastructure in their own right. Frames followed a similar path. The early system made agent payments possible through a portable prompt, then the team observed what people actually purchased. Data services dominated, but manual endpoint selection and paid requests that sometimes returned empty results prevented agents from reliably completing larger workflows. Frames used its transaction history to train a model that understands endpoint quality and handles routing, execution, payment, and validation as one workflow. A reliability system ranks tools as transactions succeed or fail, allowing performance to improve with usage and creating data that general web search cannot reproduce. Kunze positions Frames F1 as infrastructure for work beyond the public web: models can ask for an outcome while the system chooses and pays the right service. The lesson from agentic commerce is that payment rails matter, but dependable discovery and verified execution are what turn a directory of tools into a useful market. The accumulated payment history became a proprietary training and evaluation set. Frames can see which tools were selected, whether they executed successfully, what result was returned, and how often an endpoint failed for a particular task. That evidence supports routing and validation decisions that a general model cannot infer from documentation or search results alone. Kunze presents the system as an adaptive market for machine services. 00:00 Introduction and Michelin Guide Analogy 00:48 Discovery and Trust for Agent Payments 01:34 MCPay Begins at ETHGlobal Prague 02:02 From Finalist to Accelerator Support 02:42 Building a Wallet for AI Agents 03:12 A Curated Registry of Paid Tools 03:48 Prompt-Based Wallet Abstraction 04:14 Lessons From Five Hundred Thousand Payments 04:52 Demand for Data and Enrichment APIs 05:20 The Endpoint Selection Problem 06:03 Paying for Empty API Results 06:36 Replacing the Guide With a Smart Engine 07:22 Building a Composite Model 08:29 Fine-Tuning on Transaction History 08:55 Routing, Execution, and Payment 09:20 Validating Results Before Charging 09:48 Tool Reliability From Success and Failure 10:20 Live Options Data Example 10:48 Frames F1 and Proprietary Data 11:14 Comparing Frames With General Models 11:48 Why Agents Choose Reliable Companies _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 🇵🇹 *Pragma Lisbon 2026* Pragma Lisbon 2026 was held on June 25th at the Carlos Lopes Pavillion in Lisbon, Portugal and was an in-person summit for builders and leaders in the web3 ecosystem. 12:41The Missing Layer of Institutional Onchain Finance | Paul Henry Kajfasz (Unlink) at ETHConf
ETHGlobalJul 9, 2026
In this talk, Paul Henry Kajfasz, founder and CEO of Unlink, makes the case that public blockchains have created better financial rails but cannot become the world's money without solving privacy. He frames the opportunity: onchain rails moved roughly $9 trillion in real volume last year (about 5x PayPal's volume), proving these are fundamentally better rails than traditional finance with instant settlement, near free transactions, 24/7 global availability, and full programmability, translating to millions in saved fees or new revenue for companies. Yet when he asks the room how many people use blockchain in their daily lives, only one or two hands go up, and worldwide penetration sits below 1%. Something is wrong. Paul argues the root cause is that we built better rails but did not build better money. For 5,000 years from cowrie shells to cash to bank transfers, money has been private by default with selective disclosure to your bank or the taxman. Public blockchains broke this fundamental model by making every transaction leak all information. With AI, an internet connection, and a few tokens, anyone can know everything about a company's flows in an afternoon. He illustrates with a CFO running payroll onchain (employees seeing each other's salaries makes raises politically impossible), public treasuries, public B2B payments, and every trade being visible. He cites 72 physical attacks worldwide in 2025 including kidnappings and torture targeting people known to hold money onchain. He explains why privacy solutions have stayed niche: companies were forced to choose between non compliant cypherpunk mixers or new private L1s and L2s that break network effects, liquidity, and Lindy. The missing piece, and what Unlink is building, combines three things: privacy, compliance (AML, anti terrorism financing, KYC, KYB) as first class citizens, and integration through APIs, SDKs, and dashboards on the chains companies actually want to use like Ethereum and Solana. He closes by previewing partnerships with Monad, Euler, and others. 00:00 Introduction 00:08 Better Rails But Not Better Money 00:40 $9 Trillion Moved Onchain, 5x PayPal 01:22 Why Onchain Rails Are Fundamentally Better 02:27 Why Aren't Companies Rushing In 02:49 Show of Hands: Daily Blockchain Usage 03:34 Less Than 1% of Humanity Uses These Rails 04:11 The Missing Piece: Better Money 04:38 5,000 Years of Money Being Private by Default 05:05 How Public Blockchains Broke the Model 05:30 AI Makes Every Transaction Readable 06:18 The CFO Payroll Problem 07:13 72 Physical Attacks in 2025 07:57 Why Adoption Stalls 08:25 What Companies Actually Need 09:04 Why Privacy Stayed Niche 09:26 The Rock and Hard Place: Mixers vs New Chains 10:12 Losing Network Effects and Lindy 10:37 The Three Missing Pieces 10:59 Compliance as a First Class Citizen 11:24 Integrating with the Chains Companies Already Want 11:50 Unlink and the Vision Ahead 12:18 Closing: Bringing Trillions Onchain _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ *ETHConf 2026* ETHConf is a 3 day event for founders, industry leaders, and builders who are excited about the possibilities of building on top of Ethereum.
