Optimizing full node costs with monitor tools by jsvisa | Devcon SEA

DevconThu, Oct 9, 2025, 12:00 AM

Running a full node is a fundamental component of participating in a decentralized network. However, the operational cost associated with running a full node can be prohibitively high, even for an archive node, it needs a lot of CPU/Memory and SSD disks. At our organization, we have successfully implemented a cost reduction strategy by using the pprof tool, along with grafana and prometheus in our node infrastructure. [Music] hello everyone this is JS visa and I came from am group uh before this project I want to introduce am group am group is a leading digital finance company and the way and in the meantime Amber group is also holding Am AC uh which is launched for the build quest web Innovation challenges and uh I'm the da leader of the Group web story security team and besides of my job I'm also an independent e system contributor and I main also execution CL uh for gas rest and elegant and here has a picture about my uh contribution in uh over the past six years and yeah I'm all I'm I'm continually uh contribution and let's continually contribution yeah so uh today will uh I will introduce a small piece of uh of our uh Fund in the in history which is ORD in the execution CL GS um before the uh before uh before I de into the question what it is let me uh show you what we found in the monum panel uh you can see there are some abnormal uh points in the picture and so we just found this maybe there something wrong and so we need to find what's wrong uh it is really very hard to find which process indicat say so abnormal points but we are lucky we finally found some project process set use web socket to uh connect with the gas node and pull some data back um so we fin the process then we just people of it um this is a piece of the per uh fir graph and in the picture you can see there's many CPU used to do the J mall and uh yeah very much so we find this maybe there something wrong in the process maybe in the client or in the server and uh luckily we finally found there something WR in the server so what's the problem um uh wait just to write some simple code to reproduce this Pro to reproduce the issue so in the picture you can see we have two Str one is L result and the other one is in interface result and the law result which is uses jon. law messaging and the other one uses uh interface and we also uh Lo some bitmark uh functions to just Benchmark it uh it is really simple you can just reply it with systemical code in your machine and uh here's a result uh in the picture we can see yeah let's uh translate into the chart in the chart you can see so interface one this is uses less CPO and in the meantime the memory usage is also smaller than the LW message so here's the question uh in the sub St say uh store the data as the Jon do law message and use it to mure and unmature again and again but we um what we we want to improve is just start as interface and on the uh on the end we just return the interface and M it into the J messaging and so this is a uh P proposal inm and it is much uh yeah the fix is really easy not not very much you just need to find where problem and fix it and add some Test cast yeah uh that's all thank you all right let's give him a warm Round of Applause JS Visa you speak as fast as a choo choo train man all I heard was Json uh Json file and you're saving so if I understand correctly you're using Json file to save on memory space and that's how you save your cost is that correct yeah okay good so I'm not completely an idiot uh you know I don't come from a tech background so it can be challenging for me but nevertheless let's quickly look at the screen we got two questions for you JS Visa so let's look at the first question at the top what do you dislike about the clients that you worked on get Aron R uh actually I select some Clans I like so I like gas I like and I like R but in the meantime for some some other clans like okay all right I appreciate the honesty you select clients you like fantastic how much of oh excuse me one one got voted to the top what other problems did you find in gets um I think maybe a lot of other issues uh but uh in my in my point is uh you need to prep it or you need to uh improve it it is depends on your workload it depends on your company's workload you need to First measure it and then you need to monitor it and say you can find issue you want to fix or you want to improve or others yeah all right we got 30 seconds you think you can do one more question let's try quick answer how much of a performance Improvement do you get after the pr um actually uh let me say maybe 133% 133% that's pretty good yeah that's pretty good but it is just for the uh web stock notify says RPC okay you got 20 seconds let's do one more how come interface is faster than raw message unpassed bites uh how C inter I think I I'm not I'm not really different into set one but I think because in the Go Side say want to uh Marshall and unal because you every time you m Mar it into better and understand and MH back this is the problem what it is all right ladies and Gentlemen let's give our speaker another big big round of applause jsv
