And I will be with you this morning because I am your host. And with that in mind, I was very happy because I invited Liberland. Liberland performed, um, actually last year, but I met Vita Jedlicka a few years ago. And I don't know who has already noticed where Liberland is on the map, but I want to warmly invite Vit to the stage to tell us about Liberland. Again, you're asking me about the badge.
Yes, you really deserve it. Wonderful speech. Thank you for setting the tone for today. Uh-huh today. Uh-huh .
Many of you probably know what Liberland is, and I'm here to give you an overview of where we're headed now and what's next. And yes, in Liberland you will never have to pay taxes. One of the things that everyone who becomes a citizen of Liberland must swear is that you will not use the state to tax your fellow citizens. You won't steal from them directly or indirectly through the state, and I think that's really one of the next evolutionary steps that our societies need to move to. If I get my presentation, that would be great.
Yes, great. Therefore. Yes, let's try to run this. Just a short video about what Liberland looks like and who the key people behind it are. And we were very happy that Zaha Hadid Architects got involved and designed what Liberland could look like in Metatopia.
You can see it. We have really cool guys like really cool guys like Ron Paul who has expressed his support, or crazy people like the president of Argentina who applied for and recently received citizenship of Liberland. Or Vitalik, of course, who has been with us for many years and recently received Liberland's highest award in Prague. And yes, we were told that it would be impossible to even visit Liberland for 8 years. People were arrested simply for approaching Liberland, and now we are building in Liberland.
It's not easy, but we've overcome this stage, and people are now living successfully in Liberland. We just received a report from the Croatian police, where they confirmed that the settlers have been living there continuously for over several months. So, another very important thing for a country like Liberland is that you have a permanent population, right? This is one of the key elements of building a true country. And yes, we have managed to get to the stage where even Croatia now recognizes that we have a permanent settlement of Liberland.
So, that's 7 square kilometers of land between Croatia and Serbia that has never been claimed by either country. In fact, when we founded Liberland in 2015, we received a letter from the Serbian Foreign Ministry saying that they were not against the creation of Liberland the creation of Liberland . It was not their territory, while Croatia continues to claim that it is actually Serbia. So this is a very special piece of land, the perfect size to build a new country: 7 square kilometers, which is three times the size of Monaco. And, I would say, quite a convenient geography, since we are in Europe, where I think the ideas of freedom are most needed, especially now when you see people like Musk speaking out against the crazy regulation and taxation in Europe.
We can truly become a beacon of this, let's say, new system of governance here in Europe. So what does it take to have a country? By the way, have any of you ever thought about creating a new country? No, really no one? Well, because.
Creating a new country is not that easy, it is a special club: only about 200 members or organizations are currently recognized by the UN. But there is an interesting Montevideo Convention about what a country is, and a very important element is that it doesn't matter whether another country recognizes you or not. You can still be a country, and there are many examples of that, like Somaliland, right? This country has been around for many years. It was recently recognized by Israel, the first country to do so , but the definition of a country in international law does not depend on someone else recognizing you.
It would be like a chicken and egg problem. If you have a permanent population, and now we have confirmation, we have a permanent population, even from Croatia. If you have a defined territory, we have a very well- defined territory, and we are in the process of migrating our cadastre from our own blockchain to the Ethereum blockchain for greater security. If you have a government, we have a decent government. I will show you who these people are, who have been working for many years.
You have the ability to enter into relationships with other countries, and yes, Liberland has the ability to enter into relationships. I was in parliament two days ago, and we have very strong allies who will most likely become members of the next government. So, in almost every country in the world, we have good relations with some government officials government officials on whom we can rely. And yes, we are represented in over 90 countries around the world. I am very glad that I am heading to the embassy of Free Minds.
Have you heard of that organization here in Amsterdam? I think this would also be an ideal location for the Liberland embassy. So let's keep our fists crossed so we can reach an agreement with them, but they are very influential. This, by the way, is the second largest special book library in the world after the Vatican. So this is a very, very interesting organization.
Great potential. We have 1,300 citizens out of 813,000. And yes, if you have registered on the site, we consider you our citizen. But that doesn't mean you're a full- fledged citizen. We are really asking people to do something for the country.
This could be a financial contribution, of course, but you could also move to Liberland for a few weeks. Or, of course, you can provide you can provide any other cool service to move Liberland forward. Yes, countries are sustained by the support of a group of serious people who want to build the country. We founded Liberland on April 13, 2015. It was Thomas Jefferson's birthday.
We wanted to evoke the spirit of the American Revolution. I believe there is a real place for another " another " Boston Tea Party." The tax on tea was very small compared to the taxes we pay now. However, people are very humble about it. You know, you lived in societies with 60-70% societies with 60-70% taxes, if you add it all up.
This makes no sense to me at all. And yes, democracy was what the Founding Fathers were actually against. All three of them wrote letters and essays about how democracy is not the best system of government, that it is mob rule, and that it usually ends with the majority stealing money from the minority. And yet, America, 200 years later, somehow became a great democracy. This is ingrained everywhere, but it is very useful to look at this element closely.
Why have Americans forgotten that their their founding fathers were very strongly opposed to democracy and in favor of a republic? And it is also important to realize the difference between a democracy and a republic. In a democracy, you can vote for anything. In a republic, you really have a strong constitution that prevents, for example, people from robbing each other. Isn't that right?
So, Liberland also has elements of democracy and republic, but above all, we are a we are a meritocracy. And democracy—that's also an interesting thing, you know, it's a kind of god that has, in a sense, collapsed. If you have heard of the book by Hans- of the book by Hans- Hermann Hoppe called "Democracy - the called "Democracy - the God Who Failed." It's a system that really averages everything. So, decisions in a democracy, smart ideas in it are leveled by stupid ideas in various senses.
But there are better systems of governance than democracy. Um, another graph that I really like. I've actually been following these ideas since I was studying political science, and I'm an economist by training. This is a great chart that can be useful for understanding human emotions, as well as political systems and freedom in general. So freedom in general.
So , yes, everything we live in is vibration. In a sense, everything is energy and vibration. Emotions are also vibrations. You can arrange them in a specific order. And you can combine this with different political systems.
And for Liberland, it is very important for us to enjoy the creation of Liberland, to stay on a high emotional scale, and to enthusiastically build a new society. If you go lower, if you fall into hidden hostility, you get a communist society. If you get angry, it is usually associated with fascism. But there are places that are classically liberal, like Switzerland or Singapore, that are actually able to create prosperity in the right way. And one such example is, of course, Singapore, where meritocracy—not necessarily the tokenized one that we're building, but a cultural meritocracy—has been firmly embedded in society.
They managed to do something extraordinary, didn't they? They have managed to grow the economy almost 60 times since the country's founding. You can really create a huge economic miracle if you just let people do their thing and don't interfere too much . We in Liberland believe we can do better. We can do better when it comes to the meritocracy structure, but in reality, meritocracy is key for us.
People who are capable and have the merits to govern the country should govern it. But in our case, what is what is merit? Merit is actually a tokenized share of sovereignty. I think sovereignty. I think when we talk about real assets, eventually sovereignty, tokenized sovereignty, will become the number one real asset, because as you said, there's always some kind of intermediary, right?
And usually in our case it's the government. And if we create a really good government that actually governs a certain territory, we will have the most prosperous society simply by definition. So, in Liberland we have no taxation, but when you make any contribution to the development of Liberland development of Liberland , you receive " , you receive " merits" that are associated with your citizenship. You need to collect 5,000 of them to become a citizen. So, essentially, you have to have a minimal stake in Liberland, but I think that's the right way to go.
Everyone in Liberland has their share. And if Liberland makes significant progress, it distributes dividends distributes dividends . We have already paid the first dividends in Liberland dollars, which was very exciting. So, this is our current Congress. Wonderful people who are on the same team with us.
Justin Sun team with us. Justin Sun is our Prime is our Prime Minister. Maybe you've heard of him. He's quite a controversial figure in the crypto world, but it's also interesting to have the richest prime richest prime minister on planet Earth. In addition, he is the first prime first prime minister to have been in space.
I think he is exactly the type of prime minister who should be first. But, of course, elections in Liberland take place every 3 months. We rotate quite quickly , and you can very easily apply and challenge Justin Sun for the position of Prime for the position of Prime Minister. So we'll see what happens. The next elections will be held in 2 months.
So, you have the opportunity to do this. We have other wonderful people, other wonderful people, like Tariq Abbasi, who is also a representative of the British king, or Michal Ptachnik, our former Minister of Justice. Another great legal expert who was very helpful in drafting the constitution. So, as I said, Liberland is a meritocracy, manifested through Congress, but we are also a republic. We do not allow the government to do anything other than security, justice, and diplomacy.
We want diplomacy. We want this corporation to focus solely on the basic functions that a government should perform. We are also a democracy, as any decision can be vetoed by a majority of citizens; This means that any decision or even any person in the government can be removed democratically democratically , which is an interesting element. We borrowed this from Switzerland. I think this is a very clever application of democracy.
Democracy cannot make positive decisions, but it can overturn those decisions it does not like. And we are a bit like a monarchy. We have a Senate as a second chamber Senate as a second chamber , composed of people who have made the greatest contributions to Liberland in their time. And the president is elected from the Senate. So, if you want to replace me, you'd better run for Senate or ask how to become a senator.
And all this works on the basis of blockchain.liberland.org. So, this is our own blockchain. We are currently actively working on an Ethereum-based DAO audit, which we want to move to in order to avoid all cities, scale Liberland, and finally launch merit, which we haven't done in 10 years.
Now it is preparing for launch. But everything has already been tested. We have seen both good and bad in these matters. Sure, it's fun to build a country with anarchists. So you can imagine all kinds of stories.
Um, yeah, that's another way to look at this whole thing. Again, meritocracy makes positive decisions. And anyone who has to weigh in can vote for any law or rule that is proposed. Once Congress votes on something, it still has to be directly confirmed by the merit holders. Yes, our constitution is still in draft, but I think we are very close to completing it.
This is a completely reasonable document. Feel free to read it and comment. You can comment directly in the constitution if you think it's good. This was the first reading of the constitution. We had some really wonderful people with us.
For example, the head of one of the ruling parties in the Czech Republic. By the way, two of the four heads of the parties in the government are also citizens of Liberland, which is pretty cool, because the new Czech government is very close to Liberland. On the left is the guy who built all these structures in Liberland and also ran the beach bar. We celebrated him on this occasion, and in the center is Hermann Hoppe, a very famous economist who, I would say, is closest to me in spirit among the active scholars who helped us compile this book on the Constitution of Liberland, which you can also download. This was the first proof that we could build diplomatic relations.
We actually signed this agreement with the government of Somaliland. Who is even familiar with Somaliland? Has anyone heard of Somaliland? Yes, this country again. Home to 5 million people, it is larger than the United Kingdom, and until recently was not recognized by anyone except Liberland.
Now it has also been recognized by Israel. We signed a memorandum of understanding with them back in 2017, that is, 2 years after the founding of Liberland, we have already proven that we can build diplomatic relations, and we are implementing interesting projects there, including some mining operations. This was my recent meeting with the President of Somaliland in Davos. If you are interested in gold mining in Somaliland, we have that as a great side project. You can join a WhatsApp group where this is discussed.
I also met with the presidents of Croatia and Serbia, of course. It was a truly pleasant meeting. I think Milanovic is one of those special people who can understand Liberland. And I hope we can build this relationship. What is really important to us is, of course, a physical presence in Liberland.
Liberland. And there is this desire to create a global network. And I met, for example, Thierry Baudet, who wants to help us create this global network. Also quite, you know, a polarizing figure here in the Netherlands. Or should we focus more on a physical presence in Liberland.
I think we really need both . We really need a strong network of people around the world who are pushing Liberland forward, who are well- connected through the latest technology latest technology , using the best currencies like the best currencies like Zano, and also people who are physically there and helping us build. So, these are all the projects we have around Liberland right now, but we need more. And this is actually a great project for the second phase of Liberland, called Liberland Ark Village. If we can show it, that would be great.
So, we have purchased land 5 km from Liberland, and immigration to Liberland will take place in two stages. People will first have to get a residence permit in Serbia, and after that—and these are, in fact, some historical buildings that we have purchased and want to turn into a spa and boutique into a spa and boutique hotel. But after obtaining a residence permit in Serbia, we should be able to move them to Liberland permanently, or at least that's our latest plan. And we're building these houses, 32 of them, around a beautiful lake that's next to this spa and longevity clinic that we want to develop literally as the first phase of physical development outside of Liberland, again , just 5 km away, but as a base for the entire settlement in Liberland. And by the way, having a Serbian residence permit is not bad at all.
You are not required to become a taxpayer if you have not been in the country for more than half a year country for more than half a year , but this also opens up other opportunities for you. But I need to move on to the next slide, please. Oh, it's not working. Please, please, take me to the next slide. Please.
Oh, impossible. Please. Good. So Serbia—that's a really cool bonus to Liberland citizenship, and another great bonus that you can get, and that's also interesting for people, especially here in the Netherlands, is Paraguayan residency. This is now also part of the deal: if you decide to become a citizen of Liberland, we provide you with Paraguayan residency services, and we couldn't find a better deal than Paraguayan residency.
This is the cheapest option. You don't need to visit the country more than once a year. So, you get a great package: you become a citizen of Paraguay, virtually tax-free if you don't live in any country for more than half a year , and at the same time you become a citizen of Liberland. We have a lot of really cool events ahead of us. One of them is in November—we are holding a conference dedicated to longevity.
This is probably the biggest event we have coming up. In addition, we host events every weekend at the Arch or in Liberland itself. We were in Liberpulco, where a very large conference was held. We can accommodate up to 200 people. We can take them to Liberland by boat.
This is already a great place for a variety of interesting activities. So interesting activities. So , thank you very much. Thank you for inviting me. And I hope to see you in Liberland.
Are there any questions? I will be happy to answer. Yes. Actually, since we have a little time, I wanted to make sure people know Hello people know Hello . Greetings.

com, code 2626. Vita, we have a little time before the next panel discussion on wallets. You mentioned that there were only a few crazy people who dared to create a country. And you are one of them. You also mentioned in passing that it was crazy to organize this with other anarchists.
I have a question. Could you share one story? Because it was a good presentation. We got a great PR We got a great PR presentation for Liberland, but I want to hear an interesting story. Well, there are very, very many of them.
Choose one. many interesting stories. So, for example, when we launched our blockchain, I didn't realize that it would, of course, be a challenge, including a personal one. It probably was n't the best idea to choose a person from Croatia, who likes to communicate a lot with Croatian intelligence services, as technical director. I didn't expect this, but yes, he built a "backdoor he built a "backdoor " into the blockchain.
So we spent over a year deciding what to do with it, but that's an advantage when you build a blockchain build a blockchain solution as a sovereign solution. If we were on Ethereum and this "backdoor on Ethereum and this "backdoor " was there, it would be very difficult to fix it. But because we knew everyone who ran these nodes, we had leverage to overcome this stage in Liberland. But of course, there are things from the outside and from the inside that make creating new countries a bit of a challenge. So, Okay.
I am always ready for the next challenge. Well, we have some tough questions. So hang in there . How is this different from an international corporation? Is it a sovereign entity?
Does it have to fit into the types of legal entities that existing countries allow? Well, yes, we said from the beginning that this is a sovereign entity, and sovereignty really begins with your decision to be sovereign, right? So no one is going to impose sovereignty on you. No, it's one of those things, and yes, sovereignty comes with the ability to have a monopoly on the use of physical violence physical violence . That's the difference between an international corporation and a sovereign state.
But Liberland is structured primarily as a corporation, in that sense it is a meritocracy, essentially a meritocracy, essentially a corporate structure. Next question. Why is Israel supporting this project before any other country? Israel supported Somaliland. They have not yet supported Liberland not yet supported Liberland .
Uh, and, uh...You know, there's some speculation that they would like to build a space for people that they want to resettle from Gaza and so on, but honestly , I don't know. It's just an interesting fact that Somaliland has actually been a fully functioning country for almost 30 years, right? They really don't have too many enemies. Somalia does not want them to be sovereign.
And sometimes it's really crazy. I was in New York one time, I had just flown in from Somaliland after meetings there, and the taxi driver happened to be Somali. I told him I had come from Somaliland, where I had a nice meeting, and he ordered me to get out of the taxi. Can you imagine? Somalia is one of the most troubled countries in Africa, but there 's still this huge...
...problem, for example , with people from Somalia because you just visit Somaliland, which has never done anything wrong to Somalia. He simply declared independence and is able to defend it for many years. So there's this strange occult belief of some people that, for example, others don't have the right to self- government for no reason at all, which we of course sometimes see with Liberland as well. But you know, we do it persistently.
We do it in a positive way, and it's very hard to fight something that's positive and just trying to build. So yes, we've been bulldozed a few times in Liberland, but what difference does it make? We just keep building. Wow. Next question Wow.
Next question . I'll continue to take questions, but we have a few here. Why was that strip of land never claimed by Serbia or Croatia? I assume that the territory of Liberland was part of Yugoslavia in the past. Yes, yes.
So, when the two countries split, these two existing entities made no claims. So yes, technically we are a former part of Yugoslavia. Historically, we were on the maps of Serbia, on the cadastral maps of Serbia, but after the partition, Serbia did not include this specific territory in its cadastre. OK. Um, a lot of models work as long as they are small.
At 7 square kilometers, Liberland cannot scale. As a venue for conferences and weddings, can it stress-test ideology beyond the party? Well, of course we believe we can. We, we can. We just need some resources to build all the infrastructure around it, but literally, providing security providing security , justice, and diplomacy—it's not that big of a problem, is it?
If you just don't try to do everything for everyone, then running a country is running a country is n't that hard of a job, I would say. OK. Regarding the constitution, is it a kind of smart it a kind of smart contract that can be updated? A. Can it evolve and change over time depending on people's needs?
Yes. I mean, there are things that make it rigid so that the overall concept can't be completely changed, but the smart contract is updatable. We are now conducting an audit again. Fable just completed a smart contract audit. You can also check it out, and yes, it's the constitution that we wrote, essentially translated into a smart contract.
And yes, there are some minor updates compared to the previous version of the smart version of the smart contract that we ran on Substrate. But still, I would say, we rank first as the first sovereign entity to actually build its constitution as a smart constitution as a smart contract. OK. And finally, does Liberland plan to have a monopoly on physical force, which is a requirement for being a sovereign state? Could this happen in Serbia or elsewhere?
Well, of course we do n't want to do that in Serbia. We want to do this in Liberland. So, yes, that's one of the important things. And, of course, this is also one of those critical shifts in power. But we have a very good opportunity on the horizon for some of this to happen.
We just need to be patient because the EU is coming into play, and they are, I would say, positively coming into play right now when it comes to borders. So, there is a big window of opportunity, especially in the next 9 months, that everything will shift, and we need to be ready as well. So we still need to do some " homework" when it comes to these elements. We have been able to support the settlers there again for the past 3 years. Someone lived there even during a severe flood.
In Liberland, we experienced the two largest floods in the last 40 years. We still managed to maintain a permanent human presence in Liberland, and now there will be huge media coverage. Deutsche Welle, Al Jazeera, The Sun, and Die Welt, for example, did come to Liberland. So there will be another huge wave of media coverage of Liberland, and I think it will be neutral or slightly positive. For example, I was surprised that Deutsche Welle is coming for the second time this year; They've already made a 40-minute feature about us, and now they're making an hour and a half documentary documentary , which is pretty amazing.
Well , thank you very much for that. Thank you very much for your comments and I look at my wall and I see a cloak here. I would also like to add a few things, because I think because I think when I started on this scene, I always kind of forgot that what is not generally accepted generally accepted is a country losing its own, um, freedom. And that's why we're going to have a discussion about this tomorrow, because a little backstory: when I started doing these big conferences after Def Con 2022, I didn't expect any of us to get arrested and have our lives come to a standstill, right? And we didn't expect that what we didn't expect that what we all took for granted—we created a mixer that anyone could enjoy, that anyone could use, that was completely permissionless and could provide privacy to many people.
many people. Anyone, basically. Anyone could use Tornado Cash. In fact, everyone can use Tornado Cash today use Tornado Cash today . Isn't that wonderful?
Is n't that what we wanted? An unstoppable smart contract that provides privacy for everyone. And we have it. But that's exactly why I dedicated the last three ETH Dam and "Common Sense" to privacy, because today Roman Storm is fighting in the USA, and Oleksiy Pertsev is still fighting here in the Netherlands. So, freedom and privacy cannot be taken for granted, and that's something we're still working on.
