Your one shot Coding Agent for Web3 | Stephane Tetsing (Berlin Ethereum Day, June 2026)
Berlin Ethereum Meetup·Wed, Sep 9, 2026, 12:00 AM
Speaker
This talk by Stephane Tetsing (Remix) walked through the Remix toolchain, from idea to a deployed contract and distributable frontend in a single prompt. Describe what you want to build, and the agent handles the full lifecycle: scaffolding the contract, running security analysis, simulating transactions, and shipping to any EVM chain. It’s the entire Remix toolchain, distilled into one conversation. Web3 development used to take a toolbox. The Berlin Ethereum Day was a one-day event held on June 15, 2026 during the Berlin Blockchain Week. The full-day program brought together speakers from the Ethereum Foundation and the broader FOSS, privacy, and security ecosystems to explore the future of Ethereum and self-sovereign technologies - from technical direction and core values to the challenges and opportunities ahead. I am Stefan Ion, part of the Remix team, and we've been doing IDE for uh helping user it uh to get into the uh Ethereum ecosystem as quick as possible. And Remix is finding itself as a learning platform as a IDE which you can actually use to quickly do thing without kind of caring a lot about deep uh deep stuff. And the main topic of this talk is actually much more directed uh by the current situation we are now living in, which is uh AI kind of taking over pretty much everything. And with all AI integration, we have come to uh the perception that user actually want a certain type of product. And we also believe that the next generation of user or the next generation of smart contract uh developer will be user who do not really want to get that deep into how a Solidity code even looking like if you also take into consideration the ecosystem, how many new user we have.
Maybe someone just want to come around and then uh just prototype something, which is actually a a huge portion of uh uh of our user or also the uh the Ethereum uh user. Most of them just come around and just want to try out something new and then see if stuff actually the way it is. What I have prepared here is actually a a a short prompt that we actually that we will actually run us together, which is one simple one simple prompt, which is about generating a contract and then deploying a contract onto a chain somewhere and then also interacting with this contract creating a front end. I will just hit start. And in between we will be discussing actually what is what is happening.
So, as I was saying, most of the user nowadays do not really care about the source code. There's a new programming language which is natural language that we all speak, English, German, or whatever kind language which is accessible for everyone. And with the rise of AI, everyone wants to program and AI actually brings this huge amount of abstraction that you don't have to be an expert in Solidity or Assembly in order to kind of get a smart contract or get a program running. You just have to use tools that are available enhanced by AI. And yeah, I mean, some days ago we already have the little cloud code main engineer saying that code might already been solved, that coding might already been solved.
But still, I do believe or we do believe that there are some areas in the coding environment where uh coding is AI hasn't hasn't got yet it. Uh I think there was AI asking me to do something. I will just auto approve everything so that it can work in the background. Yeah. All this is um is motivated by the fact that user are uh happen to learn about a certain technology and then they want to try it.
We already seen cloud code, We have seen open cloud kind of auto navigating pretty much over your computer and do stuff. This is a little bit much more token expensive. I mean, if you want open cloud to kind of install some stuff on your machine, interaction, of course, it will happen at the end of the day. You might be deploying a smart contract interacting with it and so on, but the amount of effort you will have to deliver in order to get will be very token extensive, although no one actually care about reducing the token prints or the token cost. Yeah.
So, there's there's a gap on all on pretty much all those frontier agentic software where they cannot really deliver a domain specific a domain specific answer just because they will have to cover they will they just want to cover all the entire world and covering a domain specific uh problem issue is something like what we are doing on remix where we kind of identify a user want to deploy a smart contract. He want to interact with the smart contract and he wants a front end and that front end is actually uh that front end should work. He should be able to share this front end and say, "Oh, look at this really nice project which is running on the blockchain." I will go ahead and just confirm this and we will move forward. What just happened was an automatic interaction with my wallet which I already connected prior to this prior to this talk.
Yeah. I brought this example where we are creating a a a remix token just on the fly. It can be kind of any type of project. And we just submit that to the AI to our self-developed AI backed by Claude code uh no, by Claude code, by Claude Sonnet in Anthropic model. And this AI integration is actually getting pretty much everything happening in the in the front end.
So, the user does will not have to go to order uh traditional pipeline. And this traditional pipeline is also the main issue why we are moving to where we are moving right now because back then with back then I say maybe that would be 1 year. You would have to go ahead maybe search on Stack Overflow how to code Solidity, maybe search on diverse forum how to create an ERC token and so on. You will write a contract, you will go ahead and then select the platform where you would like to deploy it. And and do all the stuff and now spin up now a machine somewhere, go there, write a front-end application and figure out how to connect that front-end application with the API, all the stuff around.
That's already that's already a master level. I mean, that's already advanced level of programming and so on. So, now what we are bringing is a one-shot package. You just come with one uh one single prompt and with that single prompt you will end up having pretty much what you actually want for your web three uh web three works workspace. Yeah.
It is taking a little bit of time, but I think it will be it will be done it will be done soon.
Okay. bring your own context?
Uh pardon me?
Can you bring your own context?
You Yeah, you can actually bring your own Yeah. You can bring your own context and also you can also load different skills to kind of enable the AI to have to kind of direct to the model to develop specific model. Yeah. This is only one uh one part. This is only a a a tiny example of actually what is happening.
We are developing a suite of uh of AI features exactly in the same direction where the user doesn't have to know it to know any deep level any deep level details in order to get to a solution. The deep level details are reserved to exper- experimented user who really want to know what is actually happening in there. Yeah. Uh at the core level. Are there any further question I I might answer before we are before we are done here?
Uh it's taking a little bit. I hope I'm still connected. Yeah, that might be also maybe a little bit an issue that the connection that the internet Wi-Fi connection is a little bit slow. But uh yeah. At least we have some update.
It will it will continue. Yeah. In the meantime, I will maybe talk to you about some other improvement that we are making. We are bringing also Ollama. I guess you guys know about Ollama.
Ollama is a model kind of runner that you can actually host locally to kind of go fully private, which is which is um completely supported in Remix. You can download either the Remix desktop or you can just go on the Remix IDE and then just swap the model and you can use your private your private self-hosted Ollama model somewhere if you are a little bit skeptic about um about sharing your data with these frontier model companies. Still taking a little bit. Still taking a little bit. Yeah, sure.
Oh, yeah. All right now oh, we are still in the launching phase. So, if you come now, you you will still get like semi unlimited access. And we also have the bring your own keys. So, you can I mean, there's a I don't I don't want to mess up the process right now, but I can show it to you later where you can actually put your own keys.
We support entropy, Ollama not Ollama uh chat not chat open AI and also Mistral and also some Chinese model provider for those who want to save a little bit of token prices and so. Yeah, for now you can you can use it, but in the next days we will be bringing out a new release where we where we kept this a little bit down to be to be a little bit restricted because we are still under the under the Ethereum we are still funded a little bit by Ethereum days. Yeah, thank you. Um It is a bit of a bummer, but still taking a little bit of time, taking a little bit of time. Uh we will be we'll be through it quite soon.
Ah, we're finally there. So now here's our solution. At the end of the process when a user want to see something when the user deploy a contract, interact with that not interact with that contract, but want to have a front end you will have these nicely app generated by the AI for you and then you can just go ahead and then either connect your wallet and then you will pretty much see everything or you can deploy it to IPFS. Uh I will just give it a nice name. Um You can also register a subdomain directly.
I didn't wanted to do this a little bit manually. Of course, you can also let the AI do this all for you so that you will just end up having a a link that you can actually share and then open it. Might take a bit of time, but at the end of the day, this is a solution that you can actually share with other users that you can actually uh host it. So, I mean, it is already hosted, that you can already interact with it without any without any local development, without any deep insight. And a little bit of a disclaimer, this is obviously uh for uh just for testing purposes because you don't want to kind of run a production environment on this.
You will have to first audit the smart contract that it doesn't contain any flawless, any shady stuff. And yeah. I might show it to you. Yeah, exactly. And here, I can connect to it using my MetaMask account I use over there.
And then, I have the same I have the same website that I can share with all my friends, or I can create an entire project based on this. And this front end is is not static. And it's not static in the sense that you can always go back to the AI and then ask him, "Okay, I do want you maybe to change the font or completely change how uh uh completely change the interaction with contracts and enable further stuff." The AI has the ABI. It can create new buttons, create new stuff around it, and then deliver it to the user, and the front end will also be updated.
Yeah, I think that's pretty much it for my uh for my tiny presentation. Are there any questions?
You don't have too much time for
Pardon me?
You don't have too much time for questions.
Oh. I'm I'm sorry. Yeah. Okay.
