Um, so I'm here to talk about Devcon India an open door for explorers and a common ground for builders. My name is Ornella. I'm part of the Devcon team. I focus on volunteers and community hubs mostly. Um, and yes, I'm part of the Ethereum Foundation.

So, the Devcon journey. It's been a total of 12 gatherings already from Devcon zero here in Berlin until Devcon C in Bangkok. So, just to get a an idea of who's in the room. Who has gone to Devcon C in Bangkok? All right.

What about Devcon six in Bogota? Nice. Devcon five in Osaka? All right, a little bit less hands. Devcon four in Prague?

Nice. Number three Cancun? Oh, half of them. Nice. Devcon two Shanghai?

All right, and Devcon one London? And Devcon zero? Oh, interesting. Okay, yeah, I mean, it's been a while ago, but we in a total of 12 uh 12 global gatherings, we also had three Devconnects. Amsterdam, Istanbul, and Argentina.

But, the good news is that we all have the possibility to go together to Devcon eight India happening at the Jio World Center from November 3rd to 6th. So, why India? Why now? The context is that India, as you may know, is a country with 1.4 billion people with the largest uh developer population.

It also has a world-leading digital public infrastructure, also known as the India stack with UPI, United Payment System, and Adhaar ID system. It has bottom-up adoption. Uh, for two years in a row, it leads the Chainalysis global crypto adoption index. Uh, it's the largest source of new crypto developers since 2023. And it has a great uh local um ecosystem, IIT Bombay, Devfolio, and university clubs.

It also has a very strong top-down momentum with DPI, digital public infrastructure as national strategy, and there is number one in global adoption with more than 17 million developers. So, Devcon is evolving as a key gathering for Ethereum's global ecosystem. What is the goal? Long-term coordination with Ethereum's core properties as the foundation. So, again, Devcon becomes an open door for explorers and a common ground for builders.

Who is Devcon for? Here, you see a different groups where Devcon is tailored to, but it also goes beyond Ethereum. So, thinking about open science, medicine, open source communities, hardware, chip design, generative technologies, digital rights, freedom of expression, and civil liberties, and more. So, we have to cultivate crops together. How Ethereum's core principles connect to themes in India?

This is through access, permissionless, inclusion, resilience, coordination, privacy, open systems, and digital agency. And the idea is that we connect with more open source communities, uh digital rights builders as a core audience through co-creation of the event. Now, how to get involved in Devcon? As you can see, there's several ways. The first one would be to get your ticket, or participate in Road to Devcon in one of the academic or the ecosystem program.

We also have supporters, the impact program, community hubs, volunteers, DIPs, and also you can apply to speak at the event. All right. So, for the first one, which ticket is right for you? There's the general admission. The sales are opened up in waves, and we had for the very first time the ETH only bird ticket sale, which sold out.

That was for anyone, and the next wave opens up later this month. We also have uh the community tickets. These are self self-claiming discounts. You don't have to apply, and I'm pretty sure that most of you will be able to get that ticket. So, please have a look at the website.

Uh and lastly, there's applications for students and builders to also have access to a very discounted ticket for the event. Now, Road to Devcon India. This consists of two specific programs. One is the academic program, and the other one the ecosystem to activate local communities. This is more tailored to India, but it's still important in case you know someone that would like to be interested in participating in these programs.

So, the academic program it's all about bringing the Ethereum to your campus ahead of Devcon. These are some of the perks that you can get or um as financial support, Devcon tickets for the community, for your university, for professors, students, application of the event, and also non-financial support. The ecosystem program is very similar, but it's more tailored to activating local communities, not necessarily through um a university or educational institution. In this case, there's up to 500 USD in financial support, visibility, again non-financial support, and tickets for the communities. Uh the ecosystem program goes in waves, so the round one has been completed, and the second one is opening this layer this month.

What else do we have? Supporter applications are now open. So, this is very important. Thanks to supporters, Devcon is possible. So, if you are um building a project or you're participating in a project that uh is aligned with props, censorship resistance, open source, privacy, and security, we would like to talk to you.

Uh so, yes, please let us know if you're aligned with these principles so you can have a booth at Devcon. Now, we also have the impact program. What does this mean? It's very important that even if you don't have a budget, you still have the chance to show your work. So, the impact program is for people building also free and open-source public goods or nonprofits.

You also get a physical booth at Devcon or digital presence as well as a set of tickets to attend for aligned entities. Another way to participate is through community hubs. So, community hubs are physical spaces within the venue where community groups host their own programming. It is very educational. There's absolutely no marketing, no logos except for the logo of the topic of the community hub.

So, it's a very interesting way to provide content and this year community hubs are also taking the stage. So, this is like community hubs 2.0, let's say, where you can bring the topic that you care about to a wider audience. The applications are now live and close on August 12th, so there's time. And the way to do it is by replying to the RFP or request for proposals on the Devcon forum with the proposal template that you'll find on the website as well.

Here are a few photos from last year's different community hubs. We had the regional hub, node operators hub, which was very active. It was more like a workshop all the time. We also had LatAm hub. This was really great cuz it was in Spanish in the local language in Devcon in Argentina.

We have also the privacy hub. Another way to get involved is volunteering. So, if you would like to be part of Devcon, you are new to the community or you're an OG and would like to give back, this is also a really great way to do it. Last year we have more than 200 people from I'd say about 90 countries. Then we have the DevCon improvement proposals.

So DIPs are intended for collaborative community input on what should be added, subtracted, or eliminated, modified for each DevCon. So here you have a few examples. For example, tabletop games. There was also a B part of the soundtrack of DevCon. A UCK technology in the back.

We also had the Dow confession booth. And Algorand, a really cool app together sentiment, also using CK technology. The way to apply or propose a DIP is through the DevCon form. Last but not least, programming. So may many of you might be interested in this part of the event.

So the community is the one that really provides the topics that make like Ethereum have a snapshot of its moment in time, its development. And what are the things that the community is interested in talking about at this stage. So the applications open up now at the end of June. Stay tuned for that announcement. And you will be able to know what are the tracks for this year that we're looking to have.

What are the formats? And how is the application process um in a summary. So here, for example, in these images, if you know, for example, first um you get an idea, you can apply to speak, you can propose the idea. You choose a track. You type your type of You choose your type of session, and uh you send your application.

Then the application will be sent to the track reviewers, which are volunteers that have expertise in that uh specific track. And then the tracks The track teams will select the accepted sessions, and you will be confirmed to be able to speak at Devcon. So as mentioned, there are several ways to get involved. Take a road to Devcon academic ecosystem program, supporters, impact program, community hubs, volunteers, DIPs, or also speaking. For more details and application links to any of these activities, please go to devcon.

org where you can you can find everything that you need. So yeah, that's it for now. Thank you for your time and I hope to see you all in Mumbai. Thank you.
